Shawn Robertson
Shawn is the Senior Pastor at Idabel FBC he came to our church family on November 30, 2008. Shawn and his wife Kristal have been married since December 2, 1995. It is their goal in marriage to bring glory to God, by putting Him first in all things. The Lord has blessed them with three wonderful children. A daughter Paitin and two sons Kohl & Keegan. Shawn transferred from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary to Oklahoma Baptist University and is currently pursuing his BA in Christian Studies. Shawn enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
Shawn came to saving faith in Christ on December 16, 2001. Before his conversion he actually thought he was saved. Shawn at the age of 17 had gone through all the motions but something was still missing. Years later he and his wife started to attend Oak Grove Baptist church. It was there that the Lord called Shawn unto Himself. In repentance and faith Shawn gave his life to the One who gave His life for him. Four months later the Lord called Shawn into the ministry on April 14, 2002.
Shawn and his family are excited about what the Lord is doing in their personal lives and the life of Idabel FBC.
A word from the Pastor: My personal goal in ministry is to Exalt God, Edify the Church, and to Evangelize the Lost. I have a zeal for the expository preaching of God’s word. I believe that the word of God is a life changing tool that is to be preached to its fullest, and taught with a passion to God’s people.

Greetings! My name is Chris Thorman, and I am the youth pastor here at FBC Idabel. I have been married to my beautiful wife Crystal since April 2005. We don't have children, but we do have two Great Danes, Jericho and Jade. We started our ministry in Fort Smith, AR where we served as youth pastor at Temple Baptist Church for 3 years. We moved to Idabel in May of 2008 and have served here faithfully ever since. I am currently enrolled in my second year of seminary at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in pursuit of a Master's Degree in Divinity with an emphasis in either pastoral counseling or church history.
My passion is seeing students come to know to Christ as Lord and Savior. However, my greatest passion in student ministry is helping students understand it doesn't just end at that one time decision but Jesus tells us we must, "deny ourself, take up our cross, and follow Him daily." Salvation is a life-long committment to God through Jesus. Once students understand they must walk daily with the Lord, we try to encourage them to spend time in prayer, bible study, and fellowship with other Christians.
Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing, and perfect will.
Hi, I'm Jay Johnson. Pictured with me is my wife Renee, our two girls Janae and Jayna, and my little buddy Jax (the dog). I surrendered to the ministry in July 2008. I was licensed to the Gospel ministry in the Spring of 2009. God has given my family and I the opportunity to serve here at First Baptist Idabel. We all have grown up here in Idabel and are affectionately bonded to the community. I pray that through the ministries God has provided, Idabel will become a beacon of light for surrounding areas and a shining example of a Christ centered community.
2 Corinthians 2:6 - For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. (NASB)
