Work of Art

Work of Art

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus" The Greek word translated "workmanship" is poiema, from which we derive our English word "poem." It means "that which is made, a manufactured product."  To quote F. F. Bruce: "his work of art, his masterpiece." We are God's works of art. I do not think there is any more exalted description of a believer in all of Scripture. You and I are God's works of art—his masterpieces! The ultimate workmanship of God is a human being who, despite being dead in his transgressions and sins, has been made alive in Christ. We are to know that it is Christ has caused us to be alive. "For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together" (Col. 1:16-17) every human being is created and held together by Christ. We are saved by grace to serve, to be the workmanship of God!!!

Scriptures for Application:

Ephesians 2:10 God has already prepared good works for us to do.

John 15:1-8 Salvation does not and never will be by our works, it will always be by the Divine work of God. But the Divine work of God in our life will always produce work for Him.

Action: Praise God for making you alive in Jesus. Ask God to reveal ways in which you can be working for Him.
