In a Slump

In a Slump

Do you ever get in a slump; you know where you just feel like doing nothing? It happens to everyone at some point in time. There are many reasons why this can happen. One reason is burn out, what is burn out? Burn out is when we get so busy doing things for the Lord, but not growing in Him. We ought to be doing ministry, but more importantly we should be growing in our relationship with Jesus. Being a Christian is not a religion, it is about a relationship with God the Father through Jesus the Son, motivated by the Holy Spirit. So if you are struggling in your relationship with Jesus, stop and take a little time for you and Him. Do not mistake busyness for growth. Spend time alone with Jesus today, you and Him that is His desire for you. He doesn’t want part of you He wants all of you, a total devotion unto Himself. As I write this I write, it is with total conviction, because it seems like more often then not I catch myself in that “slump”. I have learned that when I start feeling that way it is time to be still and know He is God.

Scriptures for Application

1 Kings 19:9-13 Was Elijah in a slump, when did he hear God?

Luke 10:38-42 Martha is the prime example of spiritual burn out. Mary knew she had to spend time alone with Jesus.

Action

Are you Mary or Martha? If you are in a slump confess it to Him right now and pray that the Lord would draw you near to Himself, pray for restoration.
