Down in the Valley

Down in the Valley

Does it ever feel like this world seems to overtake your life? If you are like me then the answer is yes. We have the pressure of daily life, struggles in marriage, being a parent, finances, concern for the church. The list could go on and on, but the question is what do I do? Scripture teaches us that we are going to go through trials and test. What is the purpose of being tested? There could be many reasons why the Lord test us, but I believe the most important reason is so that we learn to trust in Him more. If you think about it when life is easy and smooth, we tend to become idle. It is when we are in the valley that we look up to our merciful and gracious God for help and direction. I have discovered in my life that when I am in the valley I draw nearer to God. Do I enjoy the valley, no way, but sometimes I need it. Many times I have felt the leading and guiding of the Lord when times were hard. As He is leading me through the valley, I can sense His direction for me. There is an old saying that I believe is true, “if God brings you to it, He will lead you through it”. So true, you will see this today in your reading time.

Scriptures to Read

Genesis 22:1-19 How genuine was Abrahams faith? (22:12) Who interceded and provided an offering? (22:13-14)

James 1:2-12 What does the man who stands firm under trial receive? (1:12)

Action: Ask God to strengthen and build your faith; keep your eyes upon Him and not the trials of life.
